Generation issues
AI answers seem empty or low quality
Possible reasons
- Ingestion of your attached sources hasn't finished yet
- The chat is referencing the wrong source (or none) for your question
What to try
- Wait for the ingestion progress indicator (or its completion notification) before asking detailed questions
- Use Use from document or an @ document mention to point the AI at the specific source you mean — see Choosing what the AI uses
Visual generation failed, or output quality is poor
Possible reasons
- The source material hadn't finished ingesting when generation started
- The visual was generated from a topic description rather than your intended document (or vice versa)
- The source itself is thin on the kind of content that visual type needs (for example, asking for a Timeline from a source with no chronological information)
What to try
- Confirm ingestion finished, then regenerate
- Re-check which starting point you chose — current conversation, topic, or attachment — and pick the one that actually contains what you want summarized
- Try a different visual type that suits your source better (see Visual types)
Credits were deducted but the output failed
If a generation fails after your credits were charged, check Your Artifacts to confirm the output really didn't complete (sometimes it just takes longer than expected — generation can take a minute or more). If credits were deducted for a generation that genuinely never produced an output, contact support with the chat link and roughly when it happened so the team can look into it.
Download / export button not working
Confirm the visual finished generating and that the visual type supports the export format you're trying to use — available export options vary by type and are shown in the visual's preview header (see Sharing and exporting). If the option is shown but doesn't produce a file, try again after a refresh, and report it via Report a bug if it persists.
