Your data in Edithly

This page covers what's visible and controllable from inside the app regarding your content. For Edithly's authoritative policies on data retention, processing, and training use, refer to the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service linked from the app and edithly.com — this page is a guide to what you'll encounter day to day, not a substitute for those documents.

What you upload​

Documents, websites, YouTube transcripts, pasted text, audio, and images you attach are processed so Edithly can index them and use them as context for chat answers and visual generation (see Uploading and attaching sources and Ingestion).

Who can see what​

By default, your chats, documents, and generated visuals are private to your account.

  • Inside a repository, repo-level documents and visuals are visible to everyone with access to that repo — see Members and roles.
  • A shared chat link lets the recipient import the chat (and its sources) into their own account.
  • A public visual link or portfolio makes that specific visual viewable by anyone with the link, without an account — see Sharing and exporting.

Before sharing anything publicly or with a repository, consider whether it contains material you'd rather keep private.

Repository and student privacy​

When you join a shared repository, the owner and other members with the right role can see the chats, documents, and visuals shared at the repo level, and (for owners/leads) repo-level analytics about activity and engagement — see Analytics dashboard. Your personal chats outside the repo remain your own.

Managing and deleting your content​

  • Delete a chat or repository from the sidebar menu for that item — this removes it from your account.
  • Disconnect an integration any time from the Plugins page, which removes its link to your chats going forward.
  • For account-level deletion or broader data requests, use Contact support — the team can guide you through removing your data from Edithly.
