How credits work
Visual credits are what Edithly charges for generating AI-powered visuals. Your balance is shown in the header next to the lightning-bolt icon (e.g. Credits: 788).
What costs credits
Generating a visual in the Visuals studio costs credits — the amount depends on the visual type. The Generate button always shows the exact cost for that generation before you confirm, so there are no surprises.
Current per-type costs shown in the studio:

Always check the cost on the Generate button itself — it reflects the live price for that generation and can change over time.
What doesn't cost credits
Chatting with your documents, attaching and ingesting sources, and previewing or sharing visuals you've already generated do not consume visual credits.
Carrying credits forward
Unused credits roll over to the next month rather than expiring — so if you don't use your full allotment in a given period, it's still there the next.
Running low
When your balance gets low, Edithly notifies you (in-app, and via push notification if enabled). From there you can:
- Wait for your plan's next monthly allotment, or
- Upgrade your plan for a larger monthly allotment
